Storing canned food in your kitchen cabinets is an inefficient use of space and you will often find old cans in the back that have been there for years. This easy-to-build shelf system will solve the problem by rotating the cans. The cost is a small fraction of the price of retail canned food systems. There are many variations, so modify the plans to suit your needs and abilities.

How To Turn Old Meat Into Survival Jerky That Lasts MONTHS AND MONTHS

Have you ever wondered what you would do with the meat in your freezer if the power went out for an extended period of time ... ?

Would you have enough fuel to keep running a generator to keep everything in there frozen?

You could have a big cook up and invite people around to help eat it !

or you could start thawing it out and process it so that you can turn it into jerky and keep it without having to freeze or refrigerate it.

Food Pantry: Take Care of Your Basic Needs

homestead pantry

Some years ago I became aware of the phrases “homesteading” and “prepping” that seemed to suddenly pop up all over the Internet.  I’d only known the words from history books when settlers came out West to lay claim to land by “homesteading” it and harvest time when you needed to “prepare for winter”.  I soon realized these phrases weren’t anything new- my family had always been doing it, but we just called it being poor and needing to make ends meet.  Now suddenly, homesteading and prepping were fashionable!

Beef Stew - Meal In A Jar

THRIVE Beef Stew

The ease, convenience and fresh taste of putting a meal in a jar is quite popular amongst preppers, campers, outdoorsmen and busy people.  While these are practical and beautiful in canning jars, they easily work in bags for hiking and camping trips.  But for long-term storage, vacuum sealing and oxygen absorbers are a must.  With these meals, you simple add them to boiling water.  No other ingredients are needed.  Better and healthier than one-skillet box meals!

In today's world of financial instability, food shortages, natural disasters, possible inflation and rising commodity prices, Long Term Food Storage must be considered by any prudent individual or family.
